Join us tonight for “90 Days until Dogfish Head Night” and enjoy Midas Touch through a Randall filled with mint and limes, and My Antonia through a Randall filled with blood orange and mango. Or a plain old Chicory Stout. As crazy as this winter has been, it’s still cool enough out for a hearty Chicory Stout, one of my favorite DFH beers. Then again, there’s only one DFH beer I don’t like, so they’re all my favorite.
If you see me, say hi!
THE VERDICT: The My Antonia did not change much at all, it just picked up a few extra notes on the nose. Maybe needs something with a little more impact to really alter the beer. The Midas Touch, on the other hand, was a whole new creation. The mint on the nose when I first brought the glass up just jumped right at me, followed by a hint of the lime. The mingling of the mint with the base honey and papaya notes was a revelation. Both additions were also prominent in the taste of the beer as well, with the lime dominating a bit more than it should. Just too much citrus bite for what should be a sweet malty beer. Worthy efforts both though, I’d say.
UPDATE: As if that wasn’t enough, Sierra Nevada Celebration in a cask. So much for a couple quick beers at the Ruck…
